Smuggler Films has tapped screenwriter Louis Mellis to write “The Princess’ Gangster,” the incredible true story of the affair between England’s Princess Margaret and gangster-turned-film-tough-guy John Bindon in the 1960’s, one of several rumored affairs the royal family member supposedly engaged in throughout her controversial life.

Mellis has worked on both the award-winning “Sexy Beast,” which starred Sir Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone, as well as the upcoming “44 Inch Chest,” which also stars Winstone.

Smuggler was formed last year by producer John Hart and video/commercial producers Milling Smith and Brian Carmody. They are also in development of a big-screen adaptation of “The White Tiger”, the novel from Aravind Adiga.
