Zachary Quinto (“Heroes”, “Stark Trek”) is slated to portray the famed composer and pianist George Gershwin in an upcoming DreamWorks Pictures biopic, one of three projects on the calender that Steven Spielberg is looking at directing.

Shooting on the film could begin as soon as April 2010, based on a script by Doug Wright that Marc Platt and singer/pianist Michael Feinstein are producing.

Gershwin was 38 when he passed away in in 1937 due to complications from what is considered to be a tumor. During his time as a pianist he composed for both classical productions as well as Broadway musicals and showtunes. His music has been used in both stage as well as television productions.

No release date or other information has been released yet on the project.
