Mickey Rourke (“The Wrestler”, “Iron Man 2”) has been confirmed to join the cast of Marcus Nispel’s “Conan,” playing the father of the titular character.

Rourke joins Jason Momoa and Leo Howard in the Lionsgate film, the latest adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s pulp barbarian hero of a lost era. The film, which stars filming March 15th in Bulgaria, is about Conan’s quest to avenge the slaughter of his people.

Rourke can next be seen in the upcoming “Iron Man 2” with Robert Downey, Jr. as the villainous Whiplash, and “The Expendables” alongside Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham as a member of a team of mercenaries.
