The Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky (“The Counterfeiters”) is in negotiations to direct Phoenix Pictures’ period horror “The Last Voyage of the Demeter”, based on a story within Bram Stoker’s classic book “Dracula”.

The “Demeter” was the name of the ship in Bram Stoker’s classic vampire novel “Dracula” that transported the undead count from Transylvania to London. The book describes the ship as crashing ashore with all the crew gone and a single man found dead, lashed to the wheel, with the ship’s log in his hands.

The script was written a decade ago by Bragi Schut (“Season of the Witch”) and is being described as a suspense thriller where the crew of the ship are found murdered one-by-one by a mysterious and unseen passenger.

“The Last Voyage of the Demeter” has been attached to several directors, including Robert Schwentke and most recently Marcus Nispel.
