Wolverine is sharpening his claws for movie #2. As reported by THR, Hugh Jackman will travel to Japan to film next January. Christopher McQuarrie’s script is good to go “and will be very different than the first film.” How different? Love story different. Apparently round two will focus on a storyline from Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s comic book. It’ll still include the usual Wolverine beat downs, but it will be a “beautiful story’ with a romance featuring a Japanese actress at its core.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine took in a whopping $373 million worldwide, but did anyone actually love the film? Hopefully whoever is hired to direct will seize the opportunity to improve just as Bryan Singer did with X2: X-Men United. That being said, Singer was building upon the film franchise he created. Odds are, Gavin Hood will not be asked to return for another go-around.

You know what’s the craziest thing about this news? It comes from the man notorious for reviewing a pirated copy of Wolverine. Er – is there something really wrong with this, or is it just me? Not only should Roger Friedman be laying low, he should be staying as far away from Wolverine’s claws as possible.
