Clint Eastwood will be directing a biopic of the infamous and controversial J. Edgar Hoover, director of FBI and one of its co-founders.

Hoover was the first Director of the FBI and helped found it in 1935 and remained Director until his death in 1972. He’s credited with building the FBI into the modern and efficient crime-fighting agency it is today including the usage of modern technology such as forensics, centralized databases, as well as fingerprinting. However, he was also accused with overstepping the legal jurisdiction of the FBI in pursuing personal agendas.

Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment will be producing.

No casting information has been released yet.
