According to Deadline, comedian Ricky Gervais claims in his British magazine “Heat” that the organizers of the show have asked him to come back and host the Golden Globes next year. After all of the hoopla over him hosting this year, who would have guessed he’d be invited back? (Me.)

In his article, he writes that the biggest issue for him will be how to top himself. “I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure,” he stated. He goes on to write that “[t]he question is always, ‘Did Ricky go too far?’…The answer is always ‘No’. I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it.”

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Gervais hasn’t been asked anything of the kind. Phil Berk, the head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said in a statement, “There is no truth to this rumor. We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky.”

As the majority already know, Gervais was the host of this year’s Golden Globes. His no-holds-barred attitude and jokes made for great television and entertained quite a few celebs in attendance, including Christian Bale (of all people), but for some, like Robert Downey Jr., Gervais’s jokes were “hugely mean-spirited”.
