A new trailer for the remake of “Arthur” has been released. The trailer, featuring Russell Brand, Greta Gerwig, Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner also has appearances from the likes of John Hodgman, Evander Holyfield, Nick Nolte and Luis Guzmán.

The film is a remake of the 1981 film starring Dudley Moore, Liza Minelli, John Gielgund and Geraldine Fitzgerald, in which a rich drunken playboy must marry a woman he’s not in love with in order to keep his wealthy inheritance.

From the trailer alone, I can already tell that “Arthur” purists are going to be upset by the updated script because there are a lot of things in the trailer that firmly plant this remake in the 21st century. One might also say that the clips from the trailer seem too intent on making sure the viewer knows this is a revision and not intent enough on showing the storyline or any quality to the plot. But, then again, trailer reviews are tricky, because, sometimes, trailers are not cut to really compliment the movie at all.  In any case, Russell Brand is cheeky enough to be entertaining in the movie.

The “Arthur” reboot is expected to be released to theaters April 8, 2011.
