More reboot news to report–and like a lot of reboot news, it might make you irritated, sad, and confused.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Garner and Disney have acquired the rights to “Miss Marple”, a beloved property. Disney and Garner, who will produce, plan on recreating Marple with an edge, per se.

According to the article, Marple will not only be a bit edgier, but she’ll also be younger. The edginess is supposedly probably in the works for the contemporary adaptation due to the addition of Mark Frost as the screenwriter. While he is responsible for the “Fantastic Four” movies, his original claim to fame is co-creating the cult surrealist crime mystery, “Twin Peaks”.

I’m not sure how making her younger will make her any edgier. I mean, Miss Marple is a unique character to begin with: she’s an old lady who solves crimes. Her fame as a mystery solving character is about on par with Sherlock Holmes. And, her hobbies–knitting, gardening, etc.–make her even more compelling because it’s in complete contrast to her crime-solving. Basically, being old is an essential part of her character. By taking the old out, her character could be ruined. Of course, they haven’t just how young she’ll be in this reboot, so who knows what will happen.

Are you excited or scared by this reboot news?
