Who thought in about 20 years, an entertainment story would have “Ice Cube” and “Disney” in the same sentence! DAPSMagic.com is reporting that Disney is picking up the rapper’s film based around the gritty car culture, “Chrome and Paint.” As the article points out, the film is named after a song on Ice Cube’s 2006 album “Laugh Now”; needless to say, the song has less-than-Disney lyrics.

The film, which was originally set to be an R-rated film, will take place in South Central L.A. involving young people who end up dying in drive-bys. As the article states, its expected that the violence will be toned down now that it’s Disney property.

Ice Cube will direct the film as well as co-produce it along with Matt Alvarez, his CubeVision partner. The script for the film will be written by Ice Cube and Eva Vives, co-writer of “Raising Victor Vargas”.

I’m intrigued to see how this film will play out now that the Mouse House is attached to it in some form. However, it’s also just as intriguing to see Ice Cube, a rapper who I remember as part of the NWA saying “F*** tha Police”, now doing business with The Place Where Dreams Come True. Again, who would have thought?
