Get your Jack Bauer cell phones with unlimited range ready! According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brian Grazer, co-founder of Imagine Entertainment, has tweet-confirmed that the film version of the hit FOX show “24” is aiming for a 2012 release.

“Got off the phone Keifer yesterday and we are very excited about producing the ‘24′ movie for next year,” he tweeted in response to a fan.

A month ago, Kiefer Sutherland, who portrayed Bauer on the show, revealed that a film was in the works and would be released next year.

No word yet on what the film will be about, but, seeing how the action-packed show centered around government activities, it’s safe to assume Bauer will be saving the country once again from unforeseen terror.

The show, which aired from 2001 to 2010, was partially successful due to the scared state of America after 9/11, but also due to the high-stakes, high-tension setup of the show, which had each episode as one hour of a day (the whole “day” being the entire season). However, the show has also received flack for its portrayal of a Muslim family as terrorists, with some saying that such roles were perpetuating the erroneous idea that terrorism is synonymous with a particular religion.

What do you think? Are you ready for a “24” film? Do you think it could do well at the box office, or do you think “24” has lost its relevancy? Sound off below.
