“Men in Black III” now has a villain! “Boardwalk Empire” Michael Stuhlbarg is replacing Sharlto Copley as Griffen, a quick-speaking, Yoda-esque alien. On “Boardwalk Empire”, Stuhlbarg plays Arnold Rothstein, a New York gangster.

The plot of the film will involve Yaz (Jermaine Clement), an alien(?) who goes back in time to kill Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones), which sets off a chain of events that culminates in the destruction of the world. However, Agent J (Will Smith) and a young Agent K (Josh Brolin) work together to save the day. Sounds ridiculous, but it also sounds like it could be a palatable popcorn movie. In any case, it’ll certainly sell since Will Smith is involved.

“Men in Black III” is probably better known for its horrible pre-production woes; it’s been in and out of “Development Hell” for years, but now it’s finally in an upswing. It needs to stay that way, since the film is set to be in theaters May 25, 2012.

What do you think about this casting choice? Or, seeing how the production of the film has been stop-and-start, do you even care? How many of you interested in the time-twisting plot? Sound off in the comments section below.
