New news on the “Hobbit” front: Ian Holm, who played old Bilbo in the other “Lord of the Rings” films, will reprise his role again in “The Hobbit”.

According to CinemaBlend, several fans were asking whether or not Holm would reprise his role after hearing narration at the end of the “The Hobbit” vlog that sounded very much like Holm. Even though the narration was actually done by Martin Freeman, who is playing young Bilbo, Peter Jackson took to his Facebook page to answer the fans. He wrote:

“Ian will be returning as the older Bilbo Baggins in ‘The Hobbit’.”

Now it’s up to fans to decipher how old Bilbo will turn up in the films. More than likely, he might end up at the end of the final “Hobbit” film, kind of like how he was in the fringes of the storyline of the first three films. But who knows, maybe there’s some other unique way he could show up.

What do you make of this news? Are you thrilled to see Holm back in hobbit regalia? If you heard Freeman’s narration, does this make you excited to see him in the film? Sound off on this in the comments section below.
