CinemaBlend has two new stills from the uber-anticipated J.J. Abrams film, “Super 8”, the pictures below show the kids filming their movie and a scene later on in the film, when the kids look like they’ve been through some rough times, looking scared and awed at something the sky.

These pictures only make me more excited to see the film, which is also produced by Steven Spielberg. I love old-school Spielberg movies, so this seems like a great homage to those types of films.

“Super 8” chronicles the story of a kid filmmaker, who, after filming with his friends, mistakenly shoots video of the crash landing of a strange, unearthly craft, from which a thrilling tale is spun. Starring Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, Kyle Chandler, Joel Courtney, Gabriel Basso, Katie Lowes, Zach Mills, Marco Sanchez, Ryan Lee, and Riley Griffiths, the film will be in theaters June 10, 2011.

How do you feel about these photos? Have you been waiting on tenterhooks for this film to hit the theaters? (I sure have.) What is your favorite vintage Spielberg film? (For me, it’s a tie between “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “Poltergeist”.) Sound off on these and other “Super 8” news in the comments section below.
