Charlie Sheen has missed the April 29 deadline to submit his name for the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series category for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, TVLine is reporting. It isn’t known if the actor, who was nominated four consecutive times between 2006 and 2009, decided not to enter the race or if he forgot about the deadline.

However, it’s being reported that Sheen’s reps contacted the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to inquire about the missed deadline. When they did, they were informed of a little-known loophole that may allow Sheen to submit his name on May 18.

The rule reportedly states that it’s the “responsibility of the person making the entry to list all eligible entrants. TV production companies or studios or networks generally have an awards coordinator who handles most or all of the entries for a show.” However, ‘Two and a Half Men’ doesn’t have a central coordinator who handles the entries.

But by April 29, the Academy had entries for some of the other actors and some of the crew, but nothing for Sheen. When his reps approached the Academy on May 3 to see if he could still be nominated, it considered the rule applicable to him. While Sheen’s rep had no comment on whether or not he would take advantage of the second chance, a Warner Bros. rep said the studio isn’t responsible for submitting nominations for individual actors.
