MTV Splash Page revealed new character clips from 20th Century FOX for “X-Men: First Class”. These clips are a little more than one minute in length and are character centric. They really show these new mutants in action!

“X-Men: First Class” is a prequel to the popular comic book movie series from the early 2000s. It tells the story of how Charles Xavier AKA Professor X (James McAvoy) and Erik Lehnsherr AKA Magneto (Michael Fassbender) assembled their elite team and their school for gifted youth.

The first clip highlights Sean Cassidy AKA Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones). It shows how he learns to use his power and learns to fly, with the help from Xavier. This is the first “X-Men” movie to feature Banshee (If you don’t count the made-for-TV movie from 1996, “Generation X”, where Banshee was the head of the Xavier School For The Gifted. Yeah, I don’t know what that was about).

The second clip features Alex Summers AKA Havoc (Lucas Till). He can create a plasma blast and the clip shows how difficult it is for him to control. This is the first “X-Men” movie to feature Havoc.

The third and last clip features Hank McCoy AKA Beast (Nicholas Hoult). It shows McCoy in a non-furry form and a budding romance with Raven Darkholme AKA Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). Beast was featured in “X-Men: Last Stand” and was played by Kelsey Grammer, who was blue and furry.

Overall, these clips give a general feel and tone of the film and gives comic book fans mutant power “porn”. My first reaction to these clips are this movie looks really, really bad, almost “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” bad. Hopefully, I’m wrong and Matthew Vaughn can hit this one out of the park but from the looks of it, this movie looks cheap.

“X-Men: First Class” hits theaters on June 3rd.
