The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive update about Steven Spielberg’s film, “Lincoln”. The website is reporting that Spielberg has added Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, and Joseph Cross are all in negotiations to sign onto the Abraham Lincoln biopic.

Also in negotiations are Bryon Jennings, David Costabile, Dakin Matthews, Gloria Reuben, Boris McGiver, Jeremy Strong, and David Warshofsky.

The film has already found its Lincoln and Marry Todd in Daniel Day Lewis and Sally Field. Jones will play Thaddeus Stevens, a Republican senator who was a big supporter of abolishing slavery and was integral to the legislation that funded the Civil War. Gordon-Levitt will play Robert Todd Lincoln, Lincoln’s oldest son whose life ended in young adulthood. The other actors will portray supporting roles.

The film is based on the book “Team of Rivals” by historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. It has been adapted by Tony Kushner.

The film, which will be shot in Virginia this fall, is eyeing a 2012 release. The film will be released by Touchtone, a label of Disney.
