Charlie Hunnam of Son’s of Anarchy fame, who plays Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller, is reportedly set to land a leading role in director Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming apocalyptic picture – Pacific Rim! Although details surrounding Hunnam’s role hasn’t been officially announced yet, sources are saying the thirty-one year old is set to play the character who takes charge of a group of humans that ban together, using “advanced technology” to fight an evil force of monsters that literally crawl out of the deep depths of the ocean. The script was penned by Clash of the Titan’s writer Travis Beacham.
The buzz surrounding del Toro’s Pacific Rim hasn’t been the strongest, since the director’s last couple of pictures have yet to impress movie goers, as well as his stalled involvement with The Hobbit and At The Mountains of Madness . But Hunnam’s latest casting, and known talent as a rough and tough character, has nabbed the attention of the actor’s fan base all waiting to see the biker battle it out with aliens!
The English actor is also on board Matthew Chapman’s The Ledge as Gavin and is currently filming on the set of the 2012 picture Blackbird. Filming dates for Pacific Rim have yet to be announced but The Legendary Films picture is set for release sometime in 2013 by way of Warner Brothers.
