Tribeca Film has obtained the US and Canadian distribution rights to the upcoming comedy ‘Turkey Bowl.’ The movie, which premiered to acclaim at this year’s South By Southwest festival in March, is the directorial debut of Kyle Smith.

‘Turkey Bowl’ follows Jon, played by Jon Schmidt, as 10 of his friends gather in Los Angeles to play the Turkey Bowl. The winning team of the football competition wins a beloved turkey. Friendships are tested as jealousy arises. The film also stars Kerry Bishe, Tom Di Menna, Zeke Hawkins and Zoe Perry.

The comedy, which was produced by Smith and Stephen Paratore, will be released in late June. Smith has said that “everyone involved with ‘Turkey Bowl’ is humbled by the reception the film has received. We look forward to reaching a wider audience through Tribeca.”

Tribeca Film was founded last year by Tribeca Enterprises. The new distributor is dedicated to acquiring and marketing independent movies in several platforms, including theatrical and video-on-demand. Its goal is to support filmmakers and help market movies that audiences may not see otherwise.
