The pet project of George Lucas, a film called “Red Tails” has a trailer released for film fans’ consumption. The movie, starring Terrence Howard, Ne-Yo, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Method Man, Michael B. Jordan, Andre Royo, and Marcus T. Paulk (from “Moesha”!), tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen as they fought the enemy in WWII and racism in the American Air Force.

Since I am an Alabamian, I’m proud to know that a film about the Tuskegee Airmen has been made, but I’m also irritated that George Lucas is behind it. Granted, he didn’t direct the film–Anthony Hemingway is the director and Lucas only contributed the story with John Ridley providing the screenplay–but I can see Lucas’ stamp all over this film, what with the CGI fighter jets and computerized air fights. I can tell it’s made on a computer, and I don’t feel like having “Star Wars prequels” flashbacks while watching this historical film. I mean, I know there will have to be some effects done because these are actors and not trained fighter pilots, but there could be something done to make the planes look realistic.

However, the trailer is below the post so you can gauge your emotions about it. After watching the trailer, let us know what you think. Are you annoyed with the amount of CGI? And are you happy to see Moesha’s brother back in the spotlight? Sound off below.

  1. Oh God, shut up you clueless idiot, and take your “raped childhood” BS somewhere else. Nobody gives a shit that you hate George Lucas.

As for the CG planes, let me ask you a simple question dumbass. How do you expect a filmmaker to make a film of this type and scale without CG? Do you think vintage WWII fighters and bombers grow on trees? Hell, you couldn’t find enough working WWII planes to even think about making a short film.

As for the effects, they’re not even close to being finished. Who judges effects work by a teaser trailer? This is ILM, the best in the business. The effects will look great, and the trailer looks good. Stop whining because you’re still angry at Lucas over the prequels. The man has forgotten more about filmmaking in the last 2 seconds than an idiot like you would ever know in 10 lifetimes.

  2. You’re irritated Lucas is behind it? Okay, fine. Now tell me what other white filmmaker with clout was even remotely interested in doing the story or ANY story that centered around African Americans? Christopher Nolan? The Coen Brothers? Scorcese?

Fact is Lucas was passionated about this story for a long time and PUT UP HIS OWN MONEY to get this projct off the ground. No one else in his position was going to do that.

And as the poster above me wrote….the only way you can do such aerial battles is with CGI. Let it go.
