Sony’s “Young Man With The Big Beat,” a compilation of Elvis Presley songs and interviews, will be released September 27, 2011, and The Huffington Post has a clip from one of the interviews featured in the compilation.

The interview, from 1956, shows the mindset of the then-21-year-old Presley–a straight-laced guy who had dreams of having a family.

“Well I don’t smoke and I don’t drink, and I love to go to movies,” he said in the interview. “Maybe someday I’m gonna have a home and family of my own and I’m not gonna budge from it. I was an only child but maybe my kids won’t be.”

He also talked about if he was in love. “No (laughs). I thought I been in love but I guess it wasn’t…I guess I haven’t met the girl yet, but I will. And I hope I won’t be too long ’cause I get lonesome sometimes…I’ve got a feelin’ that with her–whoever she may be–I won’t be lonesome, no matter where I am.”

That last quote tugs at your heartstrings, doesn’t it? You can listen to the full clip here at The Huffington Post. And, if you want to hear more interviews with The King, then pre-order the compilation at elvis1956.com You can also see pictures of Elvis at both HuffPo and elvis1956.com.
