If anyone was concerned about Jada Pinkett Smith being out of work after the cancellation of “HawthoRNe,” then you shouldn’t have worried.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pinkett Smith, her husband Will Smith and their business partner James Lassiter, have sold a multicamera comedy to ABC. The show, currently called “Untitled Romeo Project” and comes from ABC Studios and Overbrook Entertainment, will star singer Anthony “Romeo” Santos and the show’s story will center around a Dominican-American who is attempting to appease his traditional father while trying to live the American dream to the fullest. According to the article, the dynamic between the father and son is suppose to mirror that of Santos’ relationship with his father.

Executive Producers for the show will be Chris Pappas and Mike Bernier, who will also serve as writers. Lassiter and the Smiths will be non-writing executive producers.

I always expected for Pinkett Smith to be back working in television soon after “HawthoRNe,” but I’m surprised she got back in the game this quickly. I’m glad.

I put it to you: What do you think? Would you give this comedy a chance? Are you surprised (slightly or otherwise) to see Pinkett Smith in television again so soon? Give us your opinions in the comments section below.
