A small group of passionate Spider-Man supporters spread the mark of the superhero across New York City on February 17, 2012, MTV is reporting. The network joined the supporters as they traveled to predetermined locations across Manhattan to post Spider-Man’s famous insignia on specific walls.

The mission was to show that a superhero is nothing without a strong base of supporters championing his every move. One of the supporters, Abigail Flynn, told MTV News that the campaign is meant to “spread awareness and spread his message.” Fellow supporter Walter Sojda added that Spider-Man fights “for the little guy. We have to show that in New York, we care about Spider-Man.” The superhero’s message was also spread across other cities, including Los Angeles, Seattle and Atlanta.
