For some reason, it never occurred to me that America’s founding fathers could make great biopic material. Well, this foresight is why Darren Aronofsky is lauded in the movie industry, I suppose, because according to CinemaBlend, he’s in the process of developing a biopic on the first President of the United States, George Washington.

According to the site, Paramount Pictures is negotiating to get the rights to “The General,” and have Aronofksy set to direct. According to Variety, Aronofsky has also signed on to produce, and the script has been written by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage. Interestingly enough, the film is being described as a film along the lines of “Unforgiven.”

This is shaping up to be a solid entry into the world of biopics! George Washington as a Clint Eastwood-type? If that doesn’t get butts in seats, I don’t know what will. I never thought I’d be excited about a Washington film, but this is getting me really pumped up. I can’t wait to see it when it hits theaters.

You can read more about this upcoming film at CinemaBlend and Variety. What do you think about an “Unforgiven”-style Washington biopic directed with the same expertise as “Black Swan” was? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
