Forgoing the normal routine of having an actress or the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences make the official announcement, funny guy Seth MacFarlane will step in to reveal the Oscar Nominees this season with the help of Crazy Stupid Love’s Emma Stone, EW has shared. The nominations will be announced this coming Thursday morning, January 10th at 8:30 a.m. EST, 5:30 a.m. PST. MacFarlane, who signed on in October to headline the show, is the first Oscar host to announce the exciting noms since that of legendary actor Charlton Heston back in 1972.

The annual event will also see a group of college students from UCLA passing out awards as previously revealed. The duties have always been taken on by celebrities. The new change by Oscar producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, was shared as a way to include young filmmakers in the Oscar’s ceremony. “We wanted everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film and its legacy and, most importantly, its future,” Zadan and Meron stated. The Oscars are scheduled to take place on February 24th at the Dolby Theatre. The telecast will air on ABC.
