Tonight’s episode of ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth,” “Uprising,” is going to be groundbreaking in the fact that the whole episode is going to be told through American Sign Language. Yep, that’s right–most, if not all, of the episode is silent with subtitles used for hearing audience members.

People are already talking about this episode and it goes without saying that after it airs, everyone’s going to be buzzing about it even more. If you’re amazed by this episode and can’t wait to see it, we’ve got some stills for you to check out below. We also have a great promo below the post. I don’t think there’s going to be anything like this on television, so make sure to catch it on ABC Family at 9/8c.

“Uprising” is based on the Gallaudet University protests in 1988. The protests at the university for the deaf and hard-of-hearing were in response to the lack of deaf and hard-of-hearing staff members or university officials.

“Switched at Birth” stars Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Lucas Grabeel, Constance Marie, D.W. Moffett, Lea Thompson, Gilles Marini, Ivonne Coll and Marlee Matlin. The show chronicles the lives of two families who realized their daughters were erroneously swapped by their hospital.
