Apparently, next year is going to be The Year of Hercules. There is, of course, “Hercules: The Thracian Wars,” the upcoming film directed by Brett Ratner and starring Dwayne Johnson, but now, according to Coming Soon and The Hollywood Reporter, Renny Harlin is directing another Hercules film, “Hercules 3D,” starring “Twilight” star Kellan Lutz.

Harlin had nothing but good things to say about Lutz. “It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history—and Kellan has exactly that, personality,” he said to The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and heart.”

So, we’ve got two Hercules films coming out soon. Which one will win? According to Harlin, his film will be more like “Gladiator” than any kind of fantasy film, so if you are all about the dirt-and-guts look, then this might be your film. We’ll see which one really looks better once they are both in theaters.

“Hercules 3D” is slated to be released sometime in 2014. Ratner’s “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” will be out in theaters July 25, 2014. What do you think about Lutz as Hercules? In the battle of the Herculeses(is that plural for “Hercules”?) which actor do you prefer? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
