It’s never too early to get ready for Halloween, and Universal Studios is getting ready for their annual Halloween festival, Halloween Horror Nights 2013, with a cool “Design a Character” Contest.

Here’s the rundown on the contest. Universal is giving fans a chance to design and re-invent their own Universal Classic Monster and have it brought to life at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights! Create a detailed drawing or written description of your character design based on one of the iconic Universal Classic Monsters (Dracula, Werewolf, Mummy, etc.). The winner and a guest will be invited to attend the festivities in Hollywood, where their design will be unveiled at the red carpet opening night!

Make sure to enter your designs by July 1. You will be able to vote on the finalists featured on the Halloween Horror Nights Facebook page July 2. Click here to read the full instructions and a full listing of the monsters you can draw inspiration from. Connect to Halloween Horror Nights through Facebook and Twitter.

So, with Halloween around the corner, you’d better get busy on your designs! What do you think about the cool contest? Do you have a good idea for a re-imagined Universal Classic Monster? Give your opinions in the comments section below!
