Helena Bonham Carter will appear as the fairy godmother in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the admired fairy tale, the studio announced on Thursday. The Academy Award-nominated actress will join such previously announced stars as ‘Downton Abbey’s Lily James, who will appear as the title role; Richard Madden from ‘Game of Thrones,’ who will play Cinderella’s prince; and Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine, the princess’ evil stepmother.

Thor‘ director Kenneth Baranagh is set to helm ‘Cinderella,’ which was written by ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ scribe Aline Brosh McKenna. Disney hasn’t announced whether ‘Cinderella’ will follow in the whimsical footsteps of its 2010 hit live action fantasy adaptation, ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ in which Carter played the Red Queen, or if it will have a classic approach. Producer Simon Kinberg has said the studio has been thinking of telling the story in a traditional, loyal and modern way.
