“Godzilla” is one of the hot film properties this year, and the new trailer is making the anticipation grow even more. The first teaser already looked promising, but the new trailer gives us a little bit more of the scope of the true terror Godzilla is going to bring. The world in this film really does look terrifyingly bleak, especially with talk about the hubris of man when it comes to “controlling” nature. View the trailer for yourself below the post and tell us what you think in the comments section!

“Godzilla” is directed by Gareth Edwards with a screenplay by Max Borenstein and Frank Darabont (with the story by David Callaham). The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. As you can tell, the film is about Godzilla, one of Japan’s most famous kaiju, created by Toho Co., Ltd. The film, also produced by Legendary Pictures, will pit the giant monster “against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.”

“Godzilla” will be in theaters May 16. It’ll be presented in 2D, 3D, and IMAX in select theaters and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures except in Japan, where it’ll be distributed by Godzilla’s homebase, Toho.
