Hardcore “Sherlock” fans have been jonesing for more Sherlock and John hijinks since we last left the two, which involved London needing Sherlock so badly that he actually got to escape a punishment for murder. Crazy, huh?

Well, if you’re ready to jump back into mysteries with the snarky crime-solver, you have to wait just a little while longer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there will be a fourth three-part series (or, as we say in America, “season”) as well as a stand-alone special! As announced on Twitter by BBC One, the special will begin in Jan. 2015 and the series will shoot later that year.

“A special, plus a new series of three episodes–it’s a record-breaking run!” said co-creator, writer and executive producer Steven Moffat in a statement. “Of course, its far too early to say what’s coming, but we’re reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the last thing you’d expect.”

Mark Gatiss, also a co-creator, writer and executive producer of the show, stated how great it is to come back to “Sherlock.” “It’s always special to return to ‘Sherlock’ but this time it’s even more special as we’re doing…a Special!” he said in a statement. He also said that the new series will “take Sherlock and John Watson into deeper and darker water than ever before.”
