We’ve probably all seen the astounding “Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens” teaser trailer. That means we’ve probably all heard the narrator, who sounds menacing and oddly…comforting (at least to me)? What I’m getting at is that many, including myself, have been unsure as to the motives of this narrator or which character the voice belongs to. Thanks to HitFix, we now have the identity of the mysterious voice.

As it turns out, the voice belongs to Andy Serkis! HitFix states they have verified that it is Serkis’ voice and also has a titilating tidbit about Serkis’ character, which is still shrouded in absolute secrecy. Serkis is apparently “playing a pivotal role in the film, although he will not have a lot of screen time.”

One can assume by the voice that Serkis is playing a Sith-like character or at the very least, someone with a definite stake in the battle between good and evil. As far as the voice sounding oddly comforting to me, I understand why that’s the case if it really is Serkis’ voice.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” stars John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and many of the original “Star Wars” series actors including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. The film will be in theaters Dec. 18, 2015.
