Actor Matthew Tompkins is contending with his own personal hell and emotional demons in his upcoming thriller, ‘The Harrowing.’ His character is haunted by the ritualistic killing of his best friend in the supernatural film, which is set to debut on VOD Christmas day from Film Mode Entertainment. In honor of the drama’s release, ShockYa is premiering an action-centric exclusive action clip from the movie, which features Tompkins’ character, Ryan Calhoun, fighting off the people who wish to harm him.
‘The Harrowing’ was written and directed by Jon Keeyes (‘American Nightmare’), who also served as a producer on the thriller. In addition to Tompkins, the psychological film also stars genre icons Michael Ironside (‘Total Recall,’ ‘Starship Troopers’) and Arnold Vosloo (‘The Mummy,’ ‘G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra’), as well as ‘The Haunting of Hill House’s Arianne Martin ‘Hellraiser: Judgement’s Damon Carney. The drama follows Ryan, a vice detective who’s determined to discover the truth about the murder of his friend. So he goes undercover into a forensic hospital, where he begins to believe that demons might be real.
Tompkins, who also served as a producer on the movie, has stated: “‘The Harrowing’ is carefully constructed to be a powerful synergy of elements that make it one of those rare ‘elevated’ genre films with true crossover appeal to a wide variety of hardcore fans…The film is a potent mix of horror and supernatural elements that underpin a very smart, disturbing, and complicated psychological thriller…the idea of being able to drive the narrative utilizing all of these things, to truly pull that off, from both a commercial and artistic perspective, was a fantastic opportunity for us as Filmmakers.”
