Disposing of personal and collective stresses is a powerful journey that allows people to emotionally heal, and better connect with the world around them. Alternative-rock band, Sluka, which is led by singer-songwriter-instrumentalist, Christopher Sluka, is encouraging its listeners to support its belief that everyone should celebrate self-respect on its latest single, ‘Hey Oh.’

The San Diego-based quartet has unveiled the music video for the progressive song, which is included on its new full-length album, ‘Ready to Connect,’ which was just released on Halloween on all platforms. ‘Hey Oh,’ which is the second single to be released from the record, features a positive message for the current polarizing times, much like the LP’s previously released title track.

The video for ‘Hey Oh’ features a memorable retro visual aesthetic that highlights the group’s performance style, as they present the upbeat tune on both a porch in an idyllic backyard in California, as well as in front of a large audience in a big venue. With a happy-go-lucky vibe that’s reminiscent of David Bowie, Depeche Mode and Peter Gabriel, Christopher croons that he’s happy to be alive.

With a progressive rock sound that draws on the vocals and instrumentals of the commercial hits that were popular in the genre in the ’90s, Sluka effortlessly crafted a cosmopolitan musical composition. The visionary lyrics and overall musical style of Sluka’s lead singer-songwriter has been developed and matured by his distinct life experiences as a traveling musician over the years, which is highlighted in the ambitious and enthralling live performances that are featured in the ‘Hey Oh’ video.

Supported by twangy acoustics and soaring melodies, as well as such motivational lyrics as ‘Thankful we’re here still alive’ and ‘Picking up our self respect and celebrate our resurrection,’ Sluka’s newest single encourages its listeners to rid themselves of their personal and collective trauma, and find the beauty within their lives. ‘Hey Oh’ offers a positive message that also inspires its listeners to love their existences, no matter what hardships they have to go through, in the positive message about mental health.
