Unfortunately, 2020 has been a bad year for Hollywood due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of the outbreak, film studies around the country have been forced to stop filming. They’re worried about exposing their employees to the coronavirus. When you’re talking about celebrities who are worth millions, it is easy to see why they’re so protective of these individuals. Nevertheless, Hollywood has made up for the loss. While it hasn’t produced the same quantity, it has increased its quality significantly.

There weren’t as many movies released in 2020 but the ones released were excellent. Below, readers will learn about some of the best movies of 2020.

‘1917’

‘1917’ is a war movie released in the United States on January 10, 2020. The film earned a gross revenue of nearly $150 million and was praised by fans and critics alike. The story is based on true accounts of World War I. Two soldiers are tasked with delivering a message to a different British regiment. If those soldiers fail, 1,600 soldiers will likely be wiped out by their German enemies. The film was directed by Sam Mendes and stars George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman and Mark Strong.

Even if you’re not a fan of war movies, you will enjoy this one. It is an intense movie from start to finish. Today, the movie is available on several platforms including Hulu, Showtime and Amazon Video.

‘Hillbilly Elegy’

‘Hillbilly Elegy’ was released on November 24, 2020. This movie was directed by Ron Howard. Fans of Howard will enjoy this one since it incorporates some of the techniques that make him one of the best directors in the business. It is based on the memoir, ‘Hillbilly Elegy,’ by JD Vance. It explores the American Dream and three generations of a family living in the Appalachian mountains. The movie stars Gabriel Basso, Glenn Close and Amy Adams.

This film isn’t for everyone but it is still worth checking out.

‘Greyhound’

Since this movie stars Tom Hanks and Stephen Graham, you know it is going to be fantastic. ‘Greyhound’ was released on July 10, 2020 in the United States. It was directed by Aaron Schneider and Tom Hanks served as the screenwriter. This movie has received excellent scores on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, guaranteeing most people will like it. The film follows a first-time captain who must lead a convoy of Allies ships across the Black Pit to Great Britain. Hanks is excellent in this movie, and the other actors are great, as well.

‘Greyhound’ is a good movie for anyone. Since it is rated PG-13, you can watch it with most of your loved ones. Stop playing Situs poker online and watch this movie before the end of the year.

‘The Gentlemen’

Next, you’ll want to check out ‘The Gentlemen.’ This movie was released in January of this year, so you might’ve seen it already. Nevertheless, many will agree that it is one of the best films released this year. With Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam leading the way, you know it is going to be a work of art. Both actors are great in this movie. Guy Ritchie served as the director and screenwriter for this magnificent film. It earned more than $115 million in gross revenue since it was released.

The film follows Mickey Pearson who is an American expatriate who got rich by building a marijuana empire in London. When he tried to get out of the business, he finds that isn’t going to be so easy. ‘The Gentlemen’ spans nearly 2 hours and it’ll hold your attention from start to finish.

‘Enola Holmes’

Who doesn’t love a good Sherlock Holmes movie? Well, you’re not going to get that with ‘Enola Holmes,’ but this film is just as good. Millie Bobby Brown stars as Enola Homes, who is Sherlock’s teen sister. Enola finds out that her mother has gone missing, so she begins searching for her. She uses her super-sleuthing skills to outwit her brother and find out what happened to her mom. While a lot of people liked ‘Enola Holmes,’ some didn’t. With that being said, it might not be good for you. If you like Brown and Sherlock, you’ll likely enjoy this movie.
