In an effort to reward basketball fans, Shaquille O’Neal, TNT and the NBA are pairing with social television platform Philo for a virtual viewing party, Beck Media has announced. The viewing party, which will air on Saturday, February 19 at 8PM ET, will feature the NBA’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest live on TNT. The network is encouraging fans to chec-in and interact with O’Neal on Philo during the event.

Of the virtual interaction, O’Neal has said that “I can’t wait to sit courtside at STAPLES Center and chat live on Philo with all my fans.” During the event, he will also encourage fans to visit Philo’s website, and its iPhone, iPad or Android applications to see the virtual awards and to enter to win prizes. O’Neil added that the “Best comment of the night wins a pair of my shoes signed.”

David Levy, the CEO of Philo, said the company is “thrilled to provide a way for one of basketball’s biggest legends to interact with fans during one of the NBA’s most anticipated television events.” The Sprite Slam Dunk Contest will be featured as part of the NBA’s All-Star 2011.
