It seems like big Hollywood stars are looking to work with Quentin Tarantino. In 2009, it was Brad Pitt in “Inglourious Basterds” and now it seems to be Will Smith will be cast in “Django Unchained”.
It is reported that Will Smith is close to becoming attached to the Spaghetti Western inspired film. Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz are said to also be attached to the project. Like Brad Pitt, Will Smith is a genuine big Hollywood star. His films are a huge box office draw, despite his last film, “Seven Pounds” which was a commercial failure. His price tag ranges from $20 to $30 million a picture and I’m sure like Brad Pitt, Will Smith will have to take a pay cut if he wants to work with the filmmaker.
It is also reported that Will Smith will be up for the lead role of Django, a freed slave who wants to reunite with his slave wife. During his journey, he is being pursued by a German bounty hunter, who is said to be played by Christoph Waltz.
Hopefully, this will be a good movie for Tarantino and Smith. If Tarantino can do what he did for Brad Pitt in “Inglourious Basterds” then I’m sure it will be wonderful. Needless to say, this is shaping to be a very interesting project.
Production of “Django Unchained” is set for shoot in the fall in the South, most likely Louisiana.
