In order to raise awareness about the one in six Americans facing hunger as well as to provide much-needed relief to New Yorkers still struggling after Hurricane Sandy, music mogul and entrepreneur 50 Cent was “Going Home For Hunger” Wednesday afternoon in support of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, and Food Bank For New York City.
50 Cent served Thanksgiving meals to New Yorkers struggling with hunger as well as to New Yorkers who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy at the “Our Table is Yours” event hosted by the Food Network, Cooking Channel, and Southern Wine & Spirits of America, benefitting the Food Bank For New York City. The event took place at Cipriani Restaurant.
50 Cent grew up in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, NY and raised by his grandparents after the death of his mother. Having encountered many challenges as a child, 50 Cent has seen the effects of poverty firsthand, much like the one in six people facing hunger in the United States, including over 1 million New Yorkers.
50 Cent is truly dedicated to his cause; he is also a member of the Feeding America Entertainment Council and frequently volunteers at area food banks. He also supports Feeding America through SMS Auido, his audio brand. Each online purchase of SYNC by 50 or STREET by 50 in the United States through SMSAudio.com helps provide 250 meals to those facing hunger.
