When is “Independence Day 2” coming? We keep hearing informationa bout it, but we’ve never really gotten anything concrete. But, perhaps this news tidbit from Jeff Goldblum will give us a little more insight.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goldblum, who played smart guy David Levinson in “Independence Day,” stated that he’s been talking with producers about the sequel. “I had a meeting and have been talking over the last several months or year with Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, the producer,” Goldblum said to Time.com. “[They] say they have a part for me in what they hope will be a plan to make another one pretty soon.” Hopefully, this means he’ll reprise his role from the original film. But Goldblum isn’t holding his breath about that possibility. He’s said that there have been “recent rumblings” about the film he’s heard and the situation itself is “brewing.”

What do you think about this news? Do you want Goldblum back as David or as a completely new character? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
