Marvel’s hit film “Guardians of the Galaxy” was undoubtedly a huge success at the box office and of course, we’ll see some more “Guardians” films in the future. But guess where else you’ll see “Guardians”? Your televisions screens in cartoon form.

“Guardians” will become a Disney XD cartoon, states The Hollywood Reporter. The news came from the New York Comic Con, where it was also revealed that the cartoon show has already been ordered by Disney XD and will launch in 2015 during its “Marvel Universe” block of programming.

Like the film, the cartoon will focus on Peter Quill aka “Star-Lord” and his misfit crew of Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Drax the Destroyer as they save the universe in zany, unconventional ways. Marc Buhaj, the senior vice president of programming and general manager at Disney XD stated the excitement the network has for the new series. “…We’re looking foward to working with the great team at Marvel Television to deliver an engaging animated series that fans can enjoy each week,” he said.
