Ouija: Origin of Evil Trailer and Poster Invite Audiences Back Into the Spirit Board’s Lore

Audiences are learning that it was never just a game as they’re delving back into the lore of the infamous Ouija spirit board. The second official trailer and new poster and stills from the upcoming drama, ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil,’ have been released. The supernatural thriller’s assets have been unveiled in anticipation of its upcoming theatrical release on October 21 by its distributor, Universal Pictures.

‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’ serves as the prequel to 2014’s sleeper hit, ‘Ouija,’ and both films are based on the Hasbro game of the same name. The second installment of the horror series stars Elizabeth Reaser, Annalise Basso, Lulu Wilson and Henry Thomas.

Universal Pictures has released the following synopsis for ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’:

In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their séance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.

‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’ was produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,’ ‘The Purge’ series), Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (‘The Purge’ and ‘Insidious‘ series), alongside Hasbro’s Brian Goldner (‘Transformers’ and ‘G.I. Joe’ series) and Stephen Davis (‘Ouija’). Mike Flanagan directed the prequel from a screenplay he wrote with his ‘Oculus‘ and ‘Before I Wake’ collaborator, Jeff Howard.
