The director first snatched up the rights when the original comic book artist, Georges “Hergé” Remi, passed away back in 1983. Spielberg had to re-option the rights in 2002, hoped to film in late 2008 for a 2010 release, but clearly that didn’t go as planned. It took a little longer than expected, but things finally came together making Tintin Spielberg’s very first digitally shot production courtesy of performance capture technology. The film’s roster includes Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thomson and Thompson…

Steven Moffat tweets about Sherlock

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

New “Sherlock” news! On April 26, Steven Moffat, one of the co-creators and writers of the series, has taken to twitpic to post a picture of the front door of 221 B Baker Street. Below the story, he wrote, “It begins.” A few weeks ago, Shockya reported that the show would start filming again next month. This picture could mean that perhaps some pre-production has started. Also a few weeks ago, co-creator/writer Mark Gatiss revealed what the three episodes of the next season will be about. “We knew after having a successful…

Spielberg and Jackson Team Up for Tintin

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Variety reports that Steven Spielberg will wrap 32 days of filming on Tintin this week in which he will then hand the project to producer Peter Jackson. Jackson, who is in charge of the film’s special effects, will work on the effects for 18 months. Spielberg originally obtained the rights to Tintin in 1983, but has not felt special effects have been up to par to what was needed until he saw Jackson’s work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong, which is why the two have paired up for the project. The Tintin comic book series is about a globetrotting teenaged boy reporter. Tintin originated in…
