Following the departure of such beloved CW fan favorite series this season as ‘Smallville’ and ‘Life Unexpected,’ the network has officially picked up four new pilots for next year, tvline.com is reporting. Leading the new shows is ‘Awakening,’ the zombie series which was first reported to be picked up by the network last week. The show, which is rumored to have picked up elements from the hit movie ‘Zombieland,’ follows two sisters who “face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising.”

Another series to be picked up by the CW is ‘Hart of Dixie,’ which is being compared to ‘Everwood.’ The show is being created by ‘Gossip Girl’ developer Josh Schwartz and executive producer Stephanie Savage’s production company Fake Empire. ‘Hart of Dixie’ will follow “a young New York City doctor who inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eccentric group of characters.”

The third show is a legal drama being developed by ‘Supernatural’ co-producer Rickard Hatem, titled ‘Heavenly.’ The series will follow young attorney and former angel Dashiel Coffee, who was only recently turned into a human. She will “tackle cases at the attorney’s legal aid clinic,” and will save clients’ souls while she works on their legal problems.

The final pilot to be picked up by the CW is ‘Cooper and Stone,’ which is being compared to TNT’s ‘Rizzoli and Isles.’ ‘Cooper and Stone’ will focus on “two smart young female detectives on Chicago’s North Side who are best friends” who also solve homicides together.
