The Express Tribune, an affiliate with the International Herald Tribune, recently interviewed Anne Hathaway to promote her newest film, “The Dark Knight Rises.” However, instead of asking questions about the film, we learn a lot about Hathaway that you might not have known before.

Hathaway said that there is more in common with Lindsay Lohan and herself than people realize. “We’ve all done things we shouldn’t have done,” she told the Tribune. “It is just that I did stuff at college when nobody knew about it, so I’m not a saint. I wasted time doing self-destructive things. I try to keep my personal life low-key, particularly after what happened to me.”

She said her mother taught her that laughter is the key to a happy life. “My mother taught me to always be understanding of other people–and to have a sense of humor about yourself,” she said. “You need to hold on to that sense of humor. If you don’t look back and laugh at things like that, you really are taking yourself and life too seriously.”

“The Dark Knight Rises,” also starring Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, will be in theaters July 20.
