After the travesty that was the Aaliyah television biopic, I would think that people have gotten enough of Lifetime’s biopic projects, all of them varying in degrees of watchability. If anyone should be tired of them, it should be Lifetime itself. But, unfortunately, infamy and notoriety are better than actual good press and seeing how much social media buzz the biopics get, Lifetime assumes that Twitter buzz equals good business.

This preamble was written to announce that not only is there a Marilyn Monroe Lifetime biopic, “Marilyn,” on the way, but two of the leads have already been cast. “Pan Am” actress Kelli Garner has been cast as the iconic movie star and the man playing opposite her is none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The Hollywood Reporter states that Morgan has been cast as baseball player Joe DiMaggio, who became Monroe’s second husband. The film is based on the book “The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe” by J. Randy Taraborrelli and also stars Susan Sarandon as Monroe’s mother and Emily Watson as Marilyn Monroe’s guardian before she reached fame.

Stephen Kronish is writing the script and that could be a good thing, since he knows how to weave a dramatic tale, what with “24” and “The Kennedys” being on his resume. Laurie Collyer (“Sherrybaby”) will direct. The four-hour miniseries will debut on television in 2015.

What do you think about this miniseries? Are you prepared for yet another Lifetime biopic? Give your opinions below!
