“In the Heart of the Sea” is coming to greet adventurous theater-goers in theaters and IMAX March 13 and this Ron Howard-directed film looks like the best film yet to come from Howard in terms of the scope and magnitude of the film. Filming a story that takes place mostly at sea is fairly tough, after all. Take a look at the new trailer below the post.

“In the Heart of the Sea” stars Chris Hemsworth as the first mate of the whaling ship Essex, one of the ship’s crew who witnesses the whale that would inspire a legendary tale.

“In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.”

The film also stars Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Jordi Mollà, with Ben Whishaw and Brendan Gleeson. The film is based on the book of the same name, and the adapted screenplay is by CHarles Leavitt from a story by Leaveitt, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
