Vin Diesel is embracing his status as an action icon once again in the newly released trailer for his upcoming thriller, ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage.’ The Screen Actors Guild Award-nominated actor is showcased feeling good to be reprising his title role, as Xander embarks on a new adventure, in the film’s latest clip.

‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage,’ which was directed by D. J. Caruso, is set to be released in-theaters by Paramount Pictures on January 20, 2017. It’s the third film in the action adventure film series, and is a direct sequel to the original installment in the franchise, 2002’s ‘xXx,’ which was also led by Diesel.

In addition to Diesel, the upcoming second follow-up also stars Deepika Padukone, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Rory McCann and Samuel L. Jackson. The thriller, which was produced by Revolution Studios, Roth Kirschenbaum Films and Diesel’s One Race Film, was written by Chad St. John, and revisions were made by F. Scott Frazier.

‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ will follow extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Diesel) as he comes out of self-imposed exile, after he was believed to be long dead. He’s set on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang (Yen) and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. After recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments.
