Sandra Bullock will make her first public appearance since announcing she is divorcing Jesse James and that she secretly adopted a son in January at the MTV Movie Awards on June 6, PEOPLE is reporting. The Academy Award-winning actress will be the first woman to receive the Generation Award at the ceremony.
The award, which celebrates actors who have ‘engaged the MTV audience throughout their careers,’ has previously gone to such actors as Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler. Stephen Friedman, the general manager of MTV, added that “(Sandra) is one of those rare individuals who is adored by our audience as both an actress and a role model.”
Bullock’s rep told PEOPLE that she was chosen for the award “…for her riveting and diverse contributions to the film industry.” However, she won’t be doing any interviews at the show.
