Kelly Ripa is upset over the cancellation of “All My Children,” according to People Online. Ripa told the magazine that the cancellation is like a death in the family.
“‘All My Children was more than a job,” she said in a statement. “It was my family. It was there that I met my husband. It was there when my first two children were born; it was there where I met many of my life-long friends. It was the greatest training ground ever. I feel heart sick.”
Ripa’s character on “Children” was Haley Vaughn; Ripa played the character until 2002, when she left the show to become a co-host on “Live with Regis and Kelly” (which was then known as “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee”, when Kathie Lee Gifford was the co-host).
Susan Lucci has also given her views on the cancellation. In a statement, she said, “It’s been a fantastic journey. I loved playing Erica Kane and working with ["Children" creator] Agnes Nixon and all the incredible people involved with ‘All My Children’. I’m looking forward to all kinds of new and exciting opportunities.”
As reported yesterday, “Children” and “One Life to Live” have been let go in order for ABC to add new lifestyle programming to their daytime roster.
