Entertainment Weekly is reporting the shocking “Smallville” news that former “Smallville” actor Sam Jones III is being taken to federal prison.
According to the article, Jones was taken into custody for conspiring to sell more than 10,000 pills of oxycodone, a painkiller. Jones’ Canoga, California home was raided in 2009 after police learned he was in connection to a prescription drug ring, and in December, he was found guilty, having been confirmed as the “Hollywood connection” the police was looking for. He was initially faced with up to 20 years of prison, and will also have to face three years of probation after his sentence is completed.
Jones played Clark Kent’s high-school friend Pete Ross in the early seasons of “Smallville”. As a former “Smallville” fan, Pete was one of my favorites, so to put in my personal opinion, it’s really saddening to see that someone who was doing so well has taken a dark turn in his life. Hopefully this is the only dark turn it will have, although a potential sentence of 20 years has the ability do a lot to a person.
